On Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans organization and their fans received some thrilling news: A new stadium is on the horizon.
Nashville Metro Council voted in favor of a new stadium for the AFC South club. The 60,000-seat stadium will cost the hefty price tag of $2.1 billion, with $1.26 billion of it being funded by the public.
Fans on social media had a lot on the breaking news, which comes one day before the excitement of the 2023 NFL Draft. Needless to say, the results were mixed.

The Titans currently play their home games at Nissan Stadium, which opened back in 1999. The Titans relocated from Houston in 1997 and played their first season in Nashville at the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
Tennessee played the 1998 season at Vanderbilt Stadium before finally moving into Nissan Stadium. The Titans’ home field certainly isn’t old compared to other venues, but it’s definitely outdated compared to other stadiums.
The Titans aren’t the only team that will have a new home venue in the not-so-distant future. The Buffalo Bills, who’ve been playing their home games at Highmark Stadium since 1973, will have a new field for the 2026 season.
The Washington Commanders were sold to the Josh Harris-led group earlier this month for $6.05 billion. The club is also widely expected to have a new stadium at some point within the 2020s decade. Their current venue of FedExField in Landover, Maryland is completely outdated and widely viewed as the NFL’s worst stadium.
SoFi Stadium (home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers) and Allegiant Stadium (Las Vegas Raiders) are the youngest active NFL stadiums, having both opened in 2020.
