Some NFL fans didn’t exactly interpret the first meeting between Jonathan Gannon and Arizona Cardinals players as a smooth one.
Earlier this week, the Cardinals announced that they were hiring the ex-Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator as their new head coach. Gannon helped the Eagles to a Super Bowl 57 appearance under Nick Sirianni’s staff, and now he takes over for Kliff Kingsbury — who was let go after four years at the helm.
The Cardinals posted a video of Gannon meeting Kyler Murray and other Arizona players for the first time. Let’s just say that some fans viewed some of these interactions as awkward and rather unexciting.

The head coaching change was only one of several changes to the organization. General manager Steve Keim resigned due to health reasons and was replaced by Monti Ossenfort. Star defensive end J.J. Watt called it quits on his Hall of Fame career, as did veteran wide receiver A.J. Green.
On top of that, it’s widely believed that All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will be traded in the coming weeks. The soon-to-be 31-year-old Hopkins two years remaining on his contract.
Arizona holds the No. 3 pick in April’s Draft, though there’s a chance they’ll end up trading it to a quarterback-needy team.
