NFL fans have been posting in reaction to the death of former defensive end, Chris Smith.
Smith, who spent eight years in the NFL, was playing for the Seattle Sea Dragons in the XFL at the time of his death. His agent took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to confirm the player’s passing, leading to an overflow of condolences and emotion.
The former DE, who was 31, was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft after a four-year college career with the Arkansas Razorbacks. He also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans.
He joined the aforementioned XFL outfit in March following the league’s return the previous month.
No details of the player’s passing are available at this point.
The news of Chris’ death prompted heartbreaking tweets from NFL players and fans, with the likes of Russell Wilson, Shaq Lawson, and David Njoku, among others, expressing their feelings via the platform in the wake of it all.
