Support has been pouring in from all over after former NFL running back Emmitt Smith made a heartbreaking revelation this week.
Smith, a three-time Super Bowl winner who spent 15 years in the NFL, took to Twitter on Tuesday night to announce that his father had passed away.
“The man who inspired me to play the game of football has transitioned to be the lord,” the 53-year-old wrote. “I will miss your timely advice but will hold on to the things you and my first love taught me, my brothers and sisters. [Love] U Pop.”
The post has seen words of comfort flood in.
“I am so sorry to hear this. I am glad you got to spend time with him a few weeks ago!” one user tweeted in reply.
“Prayers up my brother. Looking like your daddy! ‘Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, Having this seal, the Lord knows those who are his own.’ He’s in good hands,” another former NFL player Spencer Tillman wrote.

“Praying for you now brother,” former pro tight end Benjamin Watson said.
Smith spent the majority of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, later joining the Arizona Cardinals. He is widely considered to be the best running back to ever play the game and is the NFL’s all-time leading rusher.
Our prayers and thoughts go out to Emmitt and his family.
