The NFL is expected to release its schedule for the 2023/24 season this Thursday; though, according to Peter King, that might not be the case.
King has reported as much in his newest Football Morning in America column, noting that, while the schedule is still likely to be done before Thursday night, there’s a chance that it might not be finished in time for the expected release.
The journalist cites a number of “mega-games” such as Week 1’s prime-time games, as well as ones set to take place on holidays – Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Chrismas Eve, plus the triple-header on Christmas Day – as the main reason the schedule might not be ready in time for this Thursday.
Per King, Commissioner Roger Goodell will meet with the group in charge of scheduling on Monday afternoon to provide some more clarity over the most highly-anticipated fixtures.
Also supporting the notion that the schedule might not be released on Thursday is the fact that it has yet to actually be announced.
As you might expect, NFL fans are not so thrilled about this. But there are many who simply aren’t buying it.

Thursday isn’t all that far away, so we should have something definitive soon enough. If we’re being honest, though, it really doesn’t matter that much. A schedule is definitely going to be released at some point; it’s not like there’s much of a choice.
