Back in 2019, Mayfield married girlfriend Emily Wilkinson at a ceremony in Malibu, California. The pair started dating following Oklahoma’s 2018 Rose Bowl loss to Georgia, but there is so much more to this story that makes it interesting.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback made a podcast appearance this week that got his name buzzing, but there is another story that many people do not know about him and his relationship with his wife.
Baker actually moved in with his wife after just four days of knowing her.
Mayfield and Wilkinson were introduced by a mutual friend, and although the QB was very interested, Wilkinson did not share the same feelings as him. She apparently assumed he was a “typical playboy athlete” and didn’t want to date a “punk football player.”
Mayfield even tried the social media route to get her attention by following and unfollowing her on Instagram. His persistence would eventually pay off and they Baker would move in with her within a week.
Social media basically labeled Baker as a psycho for his behavior.
