NFL fan bases are already upset.
Minutes before the Bucs-Cowboys game, the NFL played the Black National Anthem just as they said they would do before each game in the 2021-22 season as part of a $250 million investment towards social justice.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologized in June 2020 for “not listening to NFL players earlier” when it came to the Black Lives Matter movement. He also supported the players’ decision to kneel in protest against racism and oppression before the national anthem during games.
The league will also continue many of the social justice initiatives implemented last season, including featuring messages of antiracism and unity on helmets and the field.
As stated above, fans are already upset.
