Amazon “Thursday Night Football” commentator Al Michaels made a hilarious comment about Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns that has social media talking.
Just two days after being claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams, Mayfield made his debut with the defending Super Bowl champions in their Thursday evening home game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders held a 13-point lead with less than four minutes to go, but a Cam Akers rushing touchdown and a Mayfield TD pass to Van Jefferson in the waning seconds helped the Rams rally for an improbable 17-16 victory.
After Mayfield threw the game-winning touchdown pass, Michaels stated that some Browns fans must be thinking “Come home! Come home!”
As you could guess, Michaels’ words led to a plethora of objections from fans on social media.

The Browns drafted Mayfield first overall back in 2018, taking him over future superstars Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Mayfield looked poised to stay in Cleveland long-term after helping them end an 18-year playoff drought in 2020, but life comes at you fast in the NFL.
In the offseason, the Browns decided to trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, giving the 27-year-old a fully guaranteed $230 million deal. Mayfield was later traded to the Carolina Panthers for a 2024 fifth-round draft pick.
Mayfield struggled mightily with his new team and eventually lost the starting job to P.J. Walker. Backup Sam Darnold led Carolina to a win over the Denver Broncos in his season debut in Week 12, and it was clear from there that Mayfield was expendable.
The Panthers wound up waiving the 27-year-old Mayfield, who was then picked up by the defending champions. With Matthew Stafford (spinal cord contusion) likely out for the season, Mayfield has the chance to rebuild his value as he prepares to enter 2023 free agency.
