NFL fans weren’t happy with Adam Schefter’s latest troll job on Thursday.
Over the last few days, rumors about the New York Jets landing Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers in a trade have ramped up. On Thursday morning, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that the Jets are optimistic that they’re close to landing the four-time MVP.
Hours later, Schefter tweeted that the Jets completed a trade…not for Rodgers! But rather for Baltimore Ravens’ veteran safety Chuck Clark.

The hearts of countless football fans skipped a beat when they read Schefter’s initial tweet about the team making a trade that didn’t involve Rodgers. Needless to say, Schefter’s troll job led to quite the series of reactions from fans on Twitter.
If you’re a Jets fan, the good news is that a Rodgers trade very much remains possible. Nobody said that they’re out of the sweepstakes on the future Hall of Famer and Super Bowl 45 champion, after all.
The Jets won seven games last year thanks to the league’s fourth-best scoring defense, led by Defensive Rookie of the Year Sauce Gardner, and the production of Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson. Clearly, this team is just a quarterback upgrade away from being a playoff contender in the AFC.
Rodgers, who turns 40 in December, signed a three-year extension worth $150.8 million with the Packers last offseason. Now we wait and see if the two sides actually remain committed to working together, or if another highly-publicized divorce is coming.
