A viral tweet has some NFL fans speculating that Trey Lance, the No. 3 selection of the 2021 NFL Draft. is done with the San Francisco 49ers.
Lance opened 2022 as the 49ers’ starting quarterback, but he unfortunately suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Week 2. Jimmy Garoppolo took over as the starter before suffering a foot injury in Week 13, which also wound up sidelining him for the year.
Brock Purdy, the final draft selection of 2022 (Mr. Irrelevant), finished the season as the starter. He won all five regular season starts and led San Francisco to the NFC Championship Game. But Purdy suffered a UCL injury in that contest that will require surgery, and backup Josh Johnson had to leave after suffering a concussion. The 49ers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC title game by a score of 31-7.

The 49ers gave up a huge package to the Miami Dolphins so they could move up to No. 3 overall. They selected the North Dakota State product with the pick, and Lance learned behind Garoppolo for his rookie year.
The 22-year-old Lance is 2-2 as a starter in his career. He has five touchdowns and three interceptions in eight career game appearances.
