One NFL general manager is reported to have some of his contemporaries upset over the compliments he’s been receiving since the weekend.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been crowned winners of the 2023 NFL Draft following the picks they were able to snag, especially given the fact that they just went to the Super Bowl. And GM Howie Roseman is getting a lot of praise as a result.
Following the team’s tying Jalen Hurts to what was the NFL’s most lucrative contract for around a week – before the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson finally came to terms – the Eagles shifted their focus to the draft.
Peter Schrager of the NFL Network (H/T Brandon Lee Gowton) has reported that some executives around the league are unhappy with all the praise Howie has been getting.
To be fair, the GM did some excellent work. He got a player who was, before legal issues, tipped to go first overall in Jalen Carter with the No. 9 pick in the first round, having moved up a spot to ensure the NFC champions did not miss out. The Eagles were thought to be keen on taking Nolan Smith at No. 10 overall but somehow got him at No. 30.
Roseman ended up with Tyler Steen, Sydney Brown, and Keele Ringo after taking to the board in the mid-rounds, also landing Tanner McKee in the sixth round, and Moro Ojomo in the seventh.

Perhaps the most impressive Roseman move during the draft period was the acquisition of running back D’Andre Swift from the Detroit Lions for a seventh-round swap and a 2025 fourth-rounder.
