The NFL has concluded its investigation on the Cincinnati Bengals and the Joe Burrow injury saga, ruling that the AFC North club did not violate the league’s injury policy.
Per Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports, the NFL has determined that the Bengals “were fully compliant” of the league’s injury report policies prior to the club’s Week 11 Thursday night game against the Baltimore Ravens. As such, the Bengals will not receive any punishments from the league.
Burrow tore a ligament in the wrist of his right throwing hand in the game and was ruled out for the year. Before the game, Burrow was seen wearing a wrist sleeve, leading to speculation that the club was trying to cover up a potential injury.
The first overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft completed 11 of 17 passes in the Week 11 outing for 101 yards and a touchdown before leaving with the injury. Burrow’s promising season ended with 2,309 passing yards and 15 touchdowns against six interceptions.
