NFL fans engaged in rife debate on Tuesday night, something triggered by the NBA’s Draft Lottery.
With the MLB in full swing and the NHL already having its own lottery, some NFL fans were paying attention to the NBA’s lottery, or at least the talk surrounding it. This year, it’s no secret who’s going to be drafted No. 1 overall where both the NHL and NBA are, so the lotteries were essentially races to determine who gets to pick Connor Bedard and Victor Wembanyama.
Barring something absurd, the Chicago Blackhawks will take Beddard first overall this year, while the San Antonio Spurs have been handed the rights to do the same with Wembanyama, one of the most-hyped players to gear up for the draft in the event’s history.
But, having watched the NBA affair take shape on Tuesday, fans wondered whether a lottery could ever become a thing in the NFL, or if it would be good for America’s top league.
“The NFL should have a draft lottery,” ProFootballTalk offered. “The NFL won’t do it, because the NFL doesn’t want to acknowledge the simple reality that, for non-playoff teams, bad is good.”

While a draft discourages teams from tanking as the worst team is not guaranteed to receive the first overall pick, an overwhelming number of NFL fans are fine with things the way they are. Fox Sports’ Warren Sharp created a Twitter poll asking fans for their thoughts and, 73.7 percent of over 36,000 respondents voted against a lottery.
