The Cowboys need to add some serious speed and talent to the wide receiver room.
The Cowboys were connected to OBJ over the second half of last season, but despite all of the courting they had with him, a contract was never offered and Odell chose to sit out the rest of the year and focus on free agency.
The Dallas Cowboys traded one dynamic receiver away last offseason in Amari Cooper and it bit them in the behind. CeeDee Lamb emerged as a breakout WR, but nobody else in the WR corps made defenses scare them.
To fix that, NFL.com’s Adam Rank has proposed a trade for the Cowboys to bring in Mike Evans from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Evans has had Tom Brady throwing to him for the past few years, but before he showed up, he was still catching an insane amount of balls from different quarterbacks. He’s eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark in 9 straight seasons, every season he has played in the league.
That type of consistency is needed for the Dallas Cowboys who could use the 6’5″ large, physical WR who can also deliver top speed. The Cowboys trading for Evans would open everything up, from the passing game to the running game.
It just might lead the team to get past the divisional round for the first time since the 90s.

The consensus among Cowboys fans is that the team needs to find a way to be more aggressive in terms of roster construction over the offseason. Signing a free agent hardly qualifies as an aggressive move, but landing someone who could be a bonafide difference-maker certainly does.
We can only wait and see what Jerry Jones has up his sleeves.
