If you need any reason to further know that football is king, check out the latest ratings between the NFL and the NBA.
According to Nielsen live-plus-same-day data, the NFL on Sunday cruised to an easy victory over the NBA. Their three-game set had a set average of 21.9 million viewers while the NBA had 4.34 million. That is a huge difference.
Here are all the games broken down:
Packers-Dolphins: 25.92 million
Broncos-Rams: 22.57 million
Bucs-Cardinals: 17.15 million
76ers-Knicks: 4.04 million
Lakers-Mavericks: 4.33 million
Bucks-Celtics: 6.03 million
Grizzlies-Warriors: 4.70 million
Suns-Nuggets: 2.49 million
As you can see, even the Rams 51-14 beat down of the Broncos averaged 22.6 million viewers. That game was also simulcast to young kids on Nickelodeon.
Despite being destroyed, the NBA was up a tick in ratings and 5% in viewership from last year. Bucks-Celtics was the top draw of the day with a 2.25 and 6.03 million, which is up 9% in ratings and 17% in viewership from Warriors-Suns in the same window last year.

To be fair, anything going up against the National Football League is going to fail. The NBA’s 2022-2023 season is still in its infancy stage while the NFL’s regular season is coming to a close and the playoffs are right around the corner.
