Buffalo Bills’ star wide receiver Stefon Diggs made headlines earlier this week when he missed out on the team’s Tuesday mandatory minicamp session.
Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott stated that he was “very concerned” over the matter. Quarterback Josh Allen added that they were working on things internally with Diggs, with the former stating that he had the wide receiver’s back.
During an appearance on “Talking Buffalo” with Patrick Moran, The Athletic’s Tim Graham explained that he spoke to sources for more details on the Diggs situation. Though Graham wasn’t able to get much information, he was able to pour cold water over one rumor regarding the tension in Buffalo.
Contrary to rumor, Graham reported that there is no issue between Diggs and Buffalo offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey (h/t Emily Bicks of Heavy.com):
“I’ve been trying to figure out what is the issue and I don’t know. Everybody has been tight-lipped about it. I’ve been told that it is not Ken Dorsey if you want to strike that off the list. That’s about all I could wriggle out of one of my sources…
“I get as much information as I can before I have an opinion on something. So the fact that I don’t know what the issue is, it could be incredibly profound, it could be something really stupid and juvenile and silly. My only opinion so far is that this was an incredibly bad week for Buffalo Bills’ communications department…
Bad week for Bills culture. This was a mess that didn’t have to happen.”

The three-time Pro Bowler wound up returning to Bills practice this week. So for now, it appears as though most of the matter has been resolved.
Diggs made headlines when he made an early exit from the Buffalo locker room following their disappointing AFC Divisional Round loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. That led to speculation that Diggs was growing unhappy in Buffalo, but there’s no indicator that the Bills have been actively shopping him this offseason.
Diggs is coming off his third straight season of 100-plus catches and over 1,000 yards receiving. Without a doubt, the Bills need Diggs if they’re to compete for a Super Bowl in the crowded AFC.
