Bettors enjoyed a rare week of success at the bookies during the 12th week of NFL action.
The league threw up some exciting matchups from Thursday to Monday, with Saturday the only day without a game. The 49ers and Cowboys both won and covered the spread while the Dolphins beat the Jets 34-13 as 9.5-point favorites in the first-ever Black Friday game.
One punter from Mississippi won a whopping $ 530,000 on San Francisco’s -7, but most fans made bets on Sunday’s games, with the favorites all going 9-2 against the spread.
“I think the only two games to go our way were the Packers winning on Thursday and the Falcons today,” Station Casinos’ director Chuck Esposito told For The Win. “One of the better pro football weekends of the year for the players.”
The Eagles-Buffalos game attracted the most bets. The Eagles were -3 and went on to win 37-34 in overtime. The game also went over the 48.5 total.
The line went as low as -2.5 on Sunday but was -3.5 earlier in the week, so punters could have won on either end.

“The Eagles winning in overtime was a horrible result, especially considering the Chiefs covered,” Christian Cipollini, sportsbook trader at BetMGM told the publication. “We really didn’t get many to go our way [Sunday].”
The Steelers beat the Bengals 16-10 as 4.5-point faves while the Jaguars won their game against the Jaguars by a three-point difference (24-21) as a 1-point favorite. The Titans, 3.5-point favorites over the Panthers, won 17-10. The latter resulted in one punter hitting on a $200,000 payout.
The Chiefs were 9-point favorites against the Raiders and things looked good for the bookies when they were down 14-0, but they turned things around to win 31-17.
“Favorites went 8-2 and the only dogs that covered were against the Patriots and Saints, which the public had zero interest in,” vice president of risk at SuperBook Sports Ed Salmons lamented.
It was just that sort of week for NFL fans, but they shouldn’t expect this to happen too often.
