Signing up for sports gambling is practically the same as choosing to be a sports fan: You’ll always enjoy the wins, but you have to stomach your fair share of frustrating and gut-wrenching losses as well.
An unlucky sports bettor is feeling the latter after falling one yard (!) short of a near-$50,000 payout. One. simple. Yard. Think about that for a second.
Connor Tegtmeyer took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share just how close he was to turning a $50 wager into $50,000. Tegtmeyer placed a whopping 14 “leg” bets on the Pittsburgh Steelers-Las Vegas Raiders Sunday night contest.
Tegtmeyer was correct on 13 of them. The only one he was wrong on? Tegtmeyer had Steelers’ WR Allen Robinson going for 25-plus receiving yards, but the veteran finished with 24 (!) on four receptions.
For Tegtmeyer to win the bet, he just needed Robinson to hit the Steelers’ 40-yard line on the play below. But Robinson wisely went down and made sure the football was secured after picking up a pivotal third down that essentially iced the game:

What could have been a potential life-changing payday wound up being a heartbreaking loss for Tegtmeyer. He obviously has the guts and brains to pick the right amount of parlays, though, so maybe the big payout from a single-game parlay will come out one day.
