A significant change has been made to the NFL schedule for Week 11, and let’s just say that it should please 90-something percent of fans.
On Monday, the league announced an NFL schedule change for the Week 11 “Sunday Night Football” prime-time showdown. The Cincinnati Bengals-Los Angeles Chargers game has been moved to the Sunday night slot, with the Indianapolis Colts-New York Jets game moving to 1:00 p.m. EST on CBS.
The marquee showdown between Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert at SoFi Stadium was initially scheduled for 4:25 p.m. EST, with Aaron Rodgers’ Jets to host Anthony Richardson’s Colts on SNF.
But the Colts (4-5) and Jets (3-6) are among the most disappointing teams in the AFC, whereas the Bengals (4-5) and Chargers (5-3) are in the playoff race. Though the Bengals are below .500, a Burrow-Herbert game is much more appealing to the average NFL fan compared to a likely yawn-fest between the Jets and Colts.

This is the second time in 2024 that a change was made to the NFL schedule for a prime-time game. The Philadelphia Eagles-Jacksonville Jaguars game on Sunday (a 28-23 Philly win) was initially scheduled to take place on SNF, but that was swapped out for the Colts-Minnesota Vikings game that was even worse (a 21-13 Minny victory).
The Perfect NFL Schedule Change For Week 11
The league couldn’t help but put Aaron Rodgers’ group in a plethora of prime-time showdowns. Through the first nine weeks alone, New York played in two Monday night games, one SNF tilt and a pair of Thursday nighters. That’s five prime-time games in nine weeks.
But the NFL finally got over the need to showcase an underachieving Jets team in prime-time by giving fans a can’t-miss showdown between the Bengals and Chargers. This game carries significant playoff implications and could determine the Bengals’ season, so the league made the right decision here.
