Former NFL safety Ryan Clarke took to Twitter on Sunday night to suggest that Dwayne Haskins’ death might not have been accidental at all as he announced that a report claiming as much would soon surface.
Haskins, a former quarterback for the Washington Commanders and Pittsburgh Steelers, met his untimely end while trying to cross a Miami highway last April, getting hit by a dump truck and then run over by an SUV.
The QB, who was 24 at the time, was in Florida to train with some of his Steelers teammates and, according to his wife, ended up on foot after the vehicle he had rented ran out of gas. Sunday marked a year since Haskins’ death but some new developments have surfaced over the last few hours.
Clarke, who now works as an analyst for ESPN and has a podcast called “The Pivot,” suggested on Sunday night that Haskins may have been a target and his death was not accidental.
“Many questions remain unanswered & evidence may indicate that Dwayne Haskins was somehow targeted,” Clarke tweeted. “The civil suit will be pivotal in uncovering information that can lead to a clearer understanding of that tragic night.”
A statement from a lawyer has since surfaced indicating that a lawsuit has been filed and, based on unseen evidence, it is believed that Haskins was drugged and targeted as part of conspiracies pertaining to blackmail and robbery.

Haskins, who was a Christian, tested positive for anesthetic drugs ketamine and norketamine after his death. A blood alcohol level of .24 was also recorded.
The lawsuit could lead to a criminal investigation should it point to compelling evidence of foul play.
