Since the departure of Tom Brady — the New England Patriots have been linked to just about any available QB on the market as well as the ones who will soon be on the market.
After a terrible 2020 campaign, the team still needs to address the position as Cam Newton didn’t quite work out as planned. One NFL insider believes the Patriots are among the Top-3 most-likely landing spots for Matt Stafford, who will be departing from the Detroit Lions this offseason.
In a recent Football Morning in America post, Peter King put down what he thought were the top potential landing spots for Stafford, and yes, the Patriots made his top 3.
“Bill Belichick, as he did when he first got to New England, got his cap in decent shape with one lousy year as payment. But would he be willing to pay the 15th overall pick for Stafford? He should be. Compensation: 15th overall pick.”
The Patriots went 7-9 last year and missed the playoffs — two things that hadn’t done in a very long time.
