Retired NFL quarterback Tom Brady was recently contacted about returning for a 24th season, according to a report.
Speaking on 98.5 The Sports Hub (h/t NBC Sports Boston), radio host and former New England Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak reported that the Minnesota Vikings “reached out” to the seven-time Super Bowl champion and three-time MVP.
Though Zolak didn’t specify when the Vikings reached out, he stated that, “Brady is done.”
The New York Jets lost Aaron Rodgers back in Week 1 with a torn Achilles as well. Last week, the Cincinnati Bengals lost Joe Burrow for the season with a wrist injury.
Sure enough, speculation ramped up that Brady could come out of retirement to play for both the Jets and Bengals. But with the season more than half over, QB-needy teams and fans need to accept that Brady truly meant it when he announced his second retirement.
The Vikings wound up acquiring journeyman Josh Dobbs from the Arizona Cardinals ahead of the trade deadline. Minny has gone 2-1 with Dobbs, who’s tossed 647 yards, four touchdowns and just one interception to go along with 131 rushing yards and three rushing scores.

The idea of Brady un-retiring and trying to bring a snake-bitten franchise like Minny its first Super Bowl sounds fascinating and all, not to mention he’d be playing with the game’s best receiver in Justin Jefferson.
For at least the next six weeks, this remains Dobbs’ team.
