If the Cleveland Browns want to commit to a tear-it-all-down rebuild, they would have to start by trading franchise face and superstar defensive end Myles Garrett.
The 28-year-old Myles Garrett hasn’t at all indicated that he wants to leave Cleveland, and the Browns would certainly prefer to build around him. But a player of his caliber doesn’t come around often, and trading him while his value is at an all-time high would give the Browns the necessary assets to speed up a looming rebuild.
Coming off a surprise 11-win season and playoff berth culminating in Kevin Stefanski winning his second NFL Coach of the Year Award, expectations were high for the Browns heading into 2024.
Instead, the Browns are off to a miserable 1-5 start that will lead to a third losing season in four years. Deshaun Watson’s awful play, the miserable offensive line and an underachieving defense led to GM Andrew Berry going into seller mode, having already traded Pro Bowl wideout Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills.
Myles Garrett would have plenty of interest if he went on the trade block, but no team feels like a better landing spot for him than the San Francisco 49ers. They’re a team in win-now mode that would immediately become the Super Bowl 59 front-runners with Garrett.

Nick Bosa and Garrett are arguably two of the top three edge rushers in football, along with Pittsburgh Steelers star TJ Watt. If Garrett joined a defense led by Bosa and Fred Warner, it would almost guarantee at least one Super Bowl.
What 49ers Should Offer Browns For Myles Garrett
It’s rare for true superstar pass-rushers in their prime years to get traded, but the 2018 Khalil Mack blockbuster deal involving the Chicago Bears and Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders gives us a good idea.
Mack was 27 years of age when the Bears gave up a package headlined by two first-round picks to the Raiders. Garrett will be 29 in December, but he’s also been far more consistent than Mack throughout their playing careers.
With Garrett under contract through 2026, the 49ers should offer their 2025 first-round pick and their 2026 first, third and sixth-rounders. It’s a hefty price, yes, but he would likely be the final piece to help this franchise win that long-awaited sixth Lombardi Trophy. And perhaps more.
