It sure hasn’t taken New York Jets quarterback Mike White long to win over the trust and support of his teammates.
After leading the Jets to a Week 12 blowout win over the Chicago Bears, White was named the starter again for the team’s Week 13 road game against the Minnesota Vikings. This will be White’s second start of the 2022 season.
Ahead of the Jets-Vikings Week 13 game, multiple New York players were filmed donning “Mike F’N” White shirts. Indeed, this guy has won over the Jets locker room.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh benched starting quarterback Zach Wilson after the team fell 10-3 to the New England Patriots in Foxborough two weeks ago. In that game, the BYU product completed just nine of 22 pass attempts for 77 yards.
Wilson missed the Jets’ first three games of 2022 recovering from knee surgery, and Joe Flacco played the three games in his absence. Wilson has started five of New York’s seven games this season, completing 55.6 percent of pass attempts for 1,279 yards and four touchdowns against five interceptions.
Despite Wilson’s struggles, the Jets find themselves in playoff position thanks to a strong defense and productive rushing game. New York holds the longest active playoff drought among all 32 NFL teams, having last made it in 2010.

White appeared in four games for the Jets last season, and he made three starts. The 2018 fifth-round draft choice completed 66.7 percent of his pass attempts for 953 yards and five touchdowns against eight interceptions.
The Jets may have used the No. 2 selection on Wilson a year ago, so it may be a little early to fully give up on him. But if White continues to play better than the second-year quarterback, Saleh will continue rolling with him as the Jets draw closer and closer to locking down a playoff berth.
