The New York Jets really wanted to swing for the fences if they were going to part ways with Jamal Adams.
The Dallas Cowboys were rumored to be interested in acquiring the star safety, but it looks like the Jets wanted way too much in return. The Jets reportedly wanted All-Pro guard Zack Martin in return, sources told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Dallas quickly shut down the offer as well as the team asking for left tackle Tyron Smith.
The Cowboys best offer came in the form of a first-round draft pick and backup cornerback Anthony Brown, according to Rapoport.
As you saw, a deal never came about for Adams.
Martin and Smith have earned a combined 11 Pro Bowl appearances and five All-Pro selections.
After the deadline, Adams voiced his frustration with the Jets even fielding any trade calls for him as he stated he views himself in the same light as Aaron Donald and Tom Brady because their franchises would never try and trade them.
