The New York Jets’ playoff drought has extended to 13 years despite their trading for Aaron Rodgers last year, with the project blowing up in the quarterback’s very first game in their uniform.
With Rodgers hoping to play a full season for the team in 2024, his return might not be enough to get NY over the hump, which is why they’ve been urged to make a play for wide receiver Davante Adams.
Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon proposed the above among several others he reckons could “reshape the league in 2024.”
“It could pave the way for the Jets—who already have a stellar defense—to truly contend for the Super Bowl with a healthy [Aaron] Rodgers in 2024,” he wrote.
Seems easier said than done at this point. Adams is contracted for another three seasons in Vegas and has quickly become a huge fan of Antonio Pierce, whom he publicly campaigned for before the latter’s interim tag was removed.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini has reported that such a deal would require “significant compensation,” adding that the Jets are “hoping to make a significant addition at receiver through trade, free agency, or the draft [this offseason].”
