The New York Jets are expected to drastically improve the QB position this offseason, and it may come in the form of a trade fo a future hall of fame quarterback.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN says he’s “more convinced than ever” that the Jets will aggressively pursue a trade for Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Fowler said the buzz around the Jets and Rodgers was strong at the Senior Bowl and has continued with the future hall of famer being “target A” for New York until proven otherwise.
As for the Packers, Fowler writes that they “aren’t down the road on any potential trade” considering that Rodgers hasn’t decided if he’s going to return for the 2023 season.
Fowler added should Rodgers not become an option, he gets a sense that Derek Carr would be their No. 2 option. Carr has recently told the Raiders he will not accept anytrade toa team and the team should be releasing him soon.
In 2022, Rodgers appeared in all 17 games for the Packers and completed 64.6 percent of his passes for 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions to go along with 94 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Before Carr was benched, he finished with last season with 3522 passing yards with 24 touchdowns and 14 interceptions resulting in an 86.3 passer rating.
