The New York Jets have seen their title odds shorten in the wake of Nathaniel Hackett’s appointment.
Hackett is the new Jets offensive coordinator following his termination as head coach of the Denver Broncos. His firing came on the back of one of the worst coaching spells in the history of the NFL, but his arrival in New York has already prompted the bookmakers to move the odds in the Jets’ favor.
The odds have moved from +4000 to +3500 at PointsBet but the change has nothing to do with Hackett’s coaching prowess. It’s all because of his connection to Aaron Rodgers.
The quarterback could be on the move this year after a failed season with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers suggested as much after it became clear that the Packers would not be going to the playoffs.
The Jets were already expected to make a move for Rodgers given their disenchantment as it pertains to Zach Wilson. While Rodgers could retire, he’s likely to go to another team as he’s voiced a desire to win another MVP award before he calls curtains on his career.
The quarterback has a great relationship with Hackett, who worked as the Packers’ offensive coordinator from 2019-2021, helping them put three consecutive 13-win seasons together.

Rodgers even teased he could follow Hackett to another team at the end of 2021 but, while he was strongly linked to the Broncos after the latter’s appointment, nothing happened.
Fans won’t be so quick to believe in the possibility this time around.
