The New York Jets and running back Dalvin Cook turned out to not be that much of a match.
The New York Jets and veteran running back Dalvin Cook mutually agreed to part ways this week.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cook agreed to restructure his contract to forfeit all remaining guarantees. Cook wants to join a playoff team.
The Jets had already paid Cook most of his $5.8 million salary.
The 28-year-old joined the Jets in August following his release from the Minnesota Vikings but has found opportunities hard to come by with the team behind Breece Hall. By the time his tenure in New York ended, Cook was third on the depth chart behind rookie Israel Abanikanda.

Cook’s lone campaign with the Jets was a dud as the the 28-year-old had just 67 carries for 214 yards and no touchdowns. Cook added another 15 receptions for 78 yards.
Now Cook looks toward his future as he hopes to begin his third NFL chapter elsewhere.
We’ll see if any playoff-bound team takes a chance on Cook as he clearly is not dealing with any injuries due to his low usage.
