The New York Jets have revealed Zach Wilson’s status for Week 16.
The quarterback will not be involved when they play the Washington Commanders on Sunday as he has not cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol following an injury sustained during the Jets’ loss to the Miami Dolphins.
“Zach, he will not clear the protocol, so he’ll be out,” head coach Robert Saleh told reporters before Friday’s practice.
Saleh also announced that Trevor Siemian will be starting in place of Wilson, with Brett Rypien set to back him up. Aaron Rodgers will not be involved, although the veteran QB was added to the active roster this week.
“At this point in my career, especially, any chances I get to play is awesome, so if it happens, I’ll be ready,” Siemian said on Wednesday.

Coincidentally, the 31-year-old has not started since he played against the Jets, for the Chicago Bears, last November. A seventh-round draft pick in 2015, Siemian is heading into the 31st start of his career.
