It appears that no matter what happens, Zach Wilson will be gone from the New York Jets.
New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson had perhaps the best game of his career after trade rumors surfaced last week as he faced off against the Houston Texans. The former second-round pick finished the night by completing 27 of his 36 passes for 301 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He quite simply gave his career a night boost.
It’s no secret that Zach Wilson has not exactly thrived in New York. The Jets quarterback has been benched in each of the past two seasons and it’s clear that this relationship is not going to work out long-term.
Now, there is a rumor that the former first-round quarterback has been informed he will be traded.
The best performance of his career came after a report during the week from The Athletic that Wilson was reluctant to start this week after being inactive in Weeks 12 and 13 in favor of Tim Boyle.
Over the weekend, the Deseret News reported that Wilson was told last month following his benching that he would be traded in a mutually agreed split with coach Robert Saleh, who did not deny The Athletic’s report but said Sunday that “anything can happen” related to Wilson being on the roster next season.

Even after Sunday’s surprising showing, Wilson has a career 12-20 record with a 57.2% completion rate, 6,267 yards passing, 23 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.
The Jets expected a lot more from him and it has become clear that he will never pan out.
