Mike White certainly showed how tough he was during Sunday’s game but his body paid for it dearly.
Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills persevered through wet, chilly, and windy conditions to beat a banged-up Mike White and the AFC East-rival New York Jets 20-12 on Sunday.
White was briefly sidelined twice by injuries to his ribs and as a precaution, coach Robert Saleh said White was sent to the hospital after the game to be evaluated.
The first hit took place when he dropped back to pass in the second quarter and took a huge shot in the chest from Bills defensive lineman Ed Oliver. Then in the third quarter, he took another brutal hit to the chest from linebacker Matt Milano.
White completed 27 of 44 passes for 268 yards in Sunday’s 20-12 loss to the Bills. In his two starts before the Bills game, White was 53 of 85 with 684 passing yards, three touchdown passes and two interceptions.
The Jets, who are 7-6, have lost four of six in a slump that has made their playoff chances shaky. The team hasn’t qualified for the playoffs since 2010.
