The New York Jets continue to look for answers as they try to stay in the AFC playoff race just long enough to justify an Aaron Rodgers comeback attempt.
The latest move for the 4-7 club is cutting former starting safety Adrian Amos, whom they just signed to a $4-million, one year contract during the offseason.
The 30-year-old safety spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career evenly split between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers. He joined the Jets in June and started in three games, but he’s continued to struggle, resulting in his demotion in favor of Tony Adams.
The Jets go into this weekend’s game against the Atlanta Falcons in desperate need of a victory. Aaron Rodgers made his return to the practice field this week and they team is hoping they can get him back under center in the coming weeks.
Much of their decision on Rodgers, however, will come down to where the Jets stand in the playoff race. One more loss, and it could mean we don’t get to see A-Rod again until 2024.
