Anyone that follows football knows that future hall-of-fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers has let it be known that he intends to suit up for the New York Jets next season. Up to now, the Jets and Packers have yet to workout the compensation for Rodgers, but it definitely appears that New York is going all-in with their pursuit of the four-time MVP.
A few weeks back, the Jets agreed to terms with former Packer wide receiver Allen Lazard on a four-year, $44 million contract. Lazard was Green Bay’s leader last season in receptions, targets and receiving yards and has been catching passes from Rodgers for five years now so there is definitely chemistry between the two.
It is now being reported by Rich Cimini of ESPN that New York is looking to add former Titans center and 2022 Pro Bowler Ben Jones to their roster.
This would be another great addition to the Jets offense that already includes reigning offensive rookie of the year, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, running back Breece Hall and recently acquired speedster from the Chiefs, wide receiver Mecole Hardman.
A center and a quarterback have a very special relationship, so bringing in someone with Ben Jones skills would be a huge addition for the offense and surely make Rodgers happy. Now the Packers and Jets need to work out the details to finally make this trade official.
