NFL insider Adam Schefter is in troll mode this offseason and is up to his unusual tricks today, having attempted to hype fans up over Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers, who could be on his way out of Green Bay, with the Jets a likely destination, is weighing his options and could announce a decision pretty soon. The team has already held talks with the player, flying to him this week. And the ball is now in his court.
Schefter, meanwhile, tweeted that the Jets agreed to a trade and is sure to have gotten some fans excited over nothing.
A minute later, he announced the actual trade, reporting that New York will be acquiring safety Chuck Clark from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2024 seventh-round pick. While the trade has been agreed upon, it cannot be processed until march 15, when the new league year begins.
Schefter is attempting to make a habit out of this. A few days ago, he pretended to receive information from a source claiming Lamar Jackson was headed to the Washington Commanders in the middle of a podcast.

Of course, there was no truth to that.
Jackson has since been franchise tagged by the Ravens, who are still hopeful they can reach an agreement on a new deal for the quarterback, who is now free to hold talks with other suitors.
It’s also been noted that the Jets could possibly look into a deal for Jackson if they don’t end up signing Rodgers.
