The New York Giants had their worst fears confirmed on Monday following an injury to quarterback Daniel Jones that forced him off in the second quarter against the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll has revealed that the QB tore his ACL during the loss and will be out for the rest of the season.
Jones was slow to get up after taking a sack from Maxx Croxby during said period and, on the very next play, his right knee buckled under him without contact. He limped to the sideline and was subsequently ruled out of the game.
Sunday’s game against Vegas was Jones’s first game back since he sustained a neck injury against the Miami Dolphins in week 5.
Backup QB Tyrod Taylor is also out as he was placed on the Injured Reserve due to a rib injury he suffered against the New York Jets in Week 8. Daboll was not able to say whether Taylor will be out for the remainder of the season as well.
