Sure, Odell Beckham may have caused his fair share of drama during his time with the New York Giants, but the dude also busted his butt both on and off the field and was one of the best wideouts in the NFL during his time in the Big Apple.
So it’s gotta be pretty disheartening for OBJ to hear what Giants GM David Gettleman is saying about him after shipping him to the Cleveland Browns.
Via NJ.com:
“I think some people are still missing it,” the Giants general manager told NJ Advance Media in a wide-ranging 30-minute interview. “Football is the ultimate team game. If all 11 guys aren’t doing the right thing, you’re not going to be successful.
“There’s more to it than just collecting talent. There is a cultural thing to it that’s critical. I have not been on a team that’s gone to a Super Bowl that’s had a culture problem.”
Did he have one with the Giants?
“Not anymore,” he said with a satisfied smile.
Is Gettleman seriously blaming the Giants’ shortcomings on Beckham, and not the terrible roster he’s assembled over the past few seasons? Does he seriously expect other players to want to play for him after he takes these kinds of shots at a former player who left it all out on the field for his team?
Do better, David.
