New York Giants fans reacted with excitement and disbelief after it was revealed that the team would be hosting one of the top wide receiver prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft.
It’s reported that general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll made dinner plans with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on Tuesday night, ahead of Wednesday’s Ohio State Pro Day.
NFL Network’s Andrew Groover tweeted that the parties dined together, prompting mixed reactions from the team’s fanbase.

Smith-Njigba is an enticing prospect. While a skilled slot receiver, he hasn’t shown an ability to evade defenders and create separation. But he can make catches under pressure, which is always a plus.
Concerns have also been voiced over the player’s speed and injury history. However, he is still quite highly rated and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the league.
As for the Giants, they already have several slot receivers, namely Sterling Shepard, Wan’Dale Robinson, Kalil Pimpleton, and Parris Campbell. On the other hand, Schoen has reiterated that the Giants do not need a true No. 1 and the offense will find a place for a receiver once he’s able to get open.
It’s also likely that Smith-Njigba will be off the board by the time the Giants get to pick as they hit the clock at No. 25 this year. But Giants fans could be forgiven for remaining hopeful after this new development.
