A new viral video clip from Monday night’s game between the Eagles and Seahawks shows Philadelphia wide receivers inexplicably putting in no effort on one of the game’s final plays.
The Eagles were leading Seattle 17-13 late in the fourth quarter, until Drew Lock hit rookie wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba for the go-ahead touchdown with only 28 seconds remaining. Philly, however, still had three timeouts to march down the field for the game-tying field goal.
On a second-and-10 play, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts saw an open field and ran up the middle for a 20-yard gain. But if you watch closely, you’ll see that Philly’s wideouts didn’t even bother to try and block for Hurts.
In the middle of the field, superstar A.J. Brown can be seen just standing and watching the play without doing anything to assist his QB:
On the very next play, Hurts threw an interception to Julian Love that sealed the game and handed Philadelphia its third straight loss.
Pittsburgh Steelers wideout George Pickens has been under scrutiny in recent weeks for showing little to no effort on some plays, but let’s not overlook this play that X/Twitter user @GiantsPlzWin shared. That kind of effort wouldn’t even be acceptable in high school football.
