Everyday, there seems to be something new regarding Jason Garrett and his future with the Cowboys.
The Cowboys continue to publicly insist that the head coach won’t be fired during the season, but they seem to be stating something very differently privately. NFL Network’s Jane Slater was told to “circle back next Monday,” which is one day after Dallas hosts the rival Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday Night Football in regards Garrett’s job security.
Does that mean Garrett might be gone before or during the bye week? Surely a loss to a divisional rival dropping under .500, and being pushed out of first place is sure to make heads roll.
In the face of swirling rumors over his possible firing, Garrett was asked about getting any reassurances about his job and he had this to say:
“I’m focused on doing my job as well as I can do it,” Garrett said Monday, per The Athletic.

The Dallas Cowboys are on a 3-game losing streak, with the worst loss coming last Sunday to the winless New York Jets.
“I’m going to be very trite. I was a lot happier with what he had done the first three games than what’s happened the last three games,” owner Jerry Jones said after the game, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “But the big thing I want to say is it’s not just [Garrett]. This is across the board. That had a lot of input out there tonight to get in that spot.”
