Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter is reportedly considered a “long shot” to be picked first overall in 2025 by multiple NFL scouts.
Hunter, who impressed on both sides of the ball at CU last season, is entering a crucial year as he is expected to be part of the upcoming draft class.
According to the NFL Rookie Watch account on X/Twitter, scouts reckon the player’s ceiling as a wide receiver is Justin Jefferson level, while others believe he could be in Jalen Ramsey range as a defensive back.
The source also notes that most teams would prefer fielding Hunter as a wideout at the moment.

But he’s gone a bit further this time around as he claimed the Buffs could actually have four players go top five as there are two others who could sneak in, naming edge rusher B.J. Green but steering clear of revealing the fourth.
“Certainly, we have two guys that are positioned to go in the top five in the draft [Sanders and Hunter], but I think we’re going to have two more that’s going to sneak in that first round,” Coach Prime said at Big 12 media day on Wednesday (h/t ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura).
“Let me give you B.J. Green. I’m not going to tell you the fourth.”
Green recorded 39 tackles and six sacks at Arizona State last season. He transferred to Colorado at the end of the term and could turn out to be a massive acquisition for the Buffs, who went 4-8 in Sanders’ first year as head coach.
