The Cleveland Browns have been waiting for weeks to find out how long quarterback Deshaun Watson will be suspended this NFL season over the sexual assault allegations against him. We seem to be getting closer to that announcement.
According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Sue L. Robinson’s decision regarding the NFL could be made early next week. She is clear to say that there is no guarantee that will happen as “it’s entirely up to Robinson, and she will issue her written decision when she’s ready and not on the NFL’s timetable.”
She’s determining if Watson violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy after being accused of sexual misconduct by 24 massage therapists. A lengthy suspension is possible.
Reports indicate that the suspension will likely be significant, but not a full season.
Watson, who was accused of sexual misconduct by 24 massage therapists and has settled 20 of the civil lawsuits, was met with cheers and no audible boos when he stepped out on the field at training camp on Saturday. Two separate Texas grand juries declined to indict Watson on any of the criminal complaints. He has settled 20 of the 24 civil lawsuits filed against him
Over the offseason, he signed a five-year, $230 million fully-guaranteed contract as the Browns acquired him in a trade with the Houston Texans in March.
