Even after re-signing Jameis Winston for the 2022 season, the New Orleans Saints might decide to add a quarterback in April’s draft. After “missing out” on Deshaun Watson, the Saints rightfully turned their attention back to Winston, who played very well for them before going down with a season-ending injury.
The Saints are reportedly considering packaging picks No. 16 and 19 in the 2022 NFL Draft to move up and possibly grab a QB like Malik Willis or Kenny Pickett.
Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz:
The Saints have a little over two weeks to get a trade done.
Kenny Pickett threw for 4,319 yards and 42 touchdowns in 2021, leading Pitt to the first ACC title in team history, and he finished as Pitt’s first Heisman finalist since Larry Fitzgerald in 2003.
As a redshirt senior, Willis completed 207 of 339 passes (61.1%) for 2,857 yards, 27 TDs, and 12 INTs, also rushing for 878 yards and 13 TDs on the ground.

Winston, a former No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, spent the first five years of his career in Tampa Bay before they moved on to Tom Brady. Winston then signed with the Saints as a backup for the 2020 season and sat behind Drew Brees, not seeing much playing time that year.
Winston went on to start seven games last year and threw for 1,170 yards, 14 touchdowns, and three picks while dashing for another 166 yards and a score with his legs.
