The New Orleans Saints won’t be coming up in any more coaching-search rumors, at least for the time being, as they have announced that Dennis Allen will be returning as their head coach for 2023, per ProFootballTalk.
The team didn’t make any announcement pertaining to Allen’s future after the end of the regular season, which led folks to believe that he was set to stay. But they didn’t offer anything official until this Friday, when general manager Mickey Loomis said as much in a press conference, though he did not rule out changes to the coaching staff.
Allen went 7-10 with New Orleans this season. While they ended up in the top 10 in points and yards allowed, they didn’t experience as much success offensively, which is where they should be focusing in the offseason.
There could be changes at quarterback. Jameis Winston was the starter at the beginning of the season but Andy Dalton started 14 games after the former sustained a back injury. The Saints are likely to seek an upgrade for the position at the end of 2022/23.
