If Jameis Wilson wants a backup job with the New Orleans Saints, he is going to have to play by their rules.
The New Orleans Saints secured a new starting quarterback for the 2023 season when they signed Derek Carr, but they are still open to bringing Jameis Winston back.
However, he must do something for them first.
The Saints have offered Winston a restructured contract to return next season, ESPN’s Dianna Russini reports. If he does not accept the offer by March 15th, he will be cut from the roster.
Prior to last season, Winston signed a two-year, $28 million contract as he entered the year as the starting QB.
Now that he knows he will be a backup with the Saints, it’s up to him to figure out if there is a team in the NFL that will allow him to battle for a starting QB role. If not, he may as well stay where he is at.
