New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick had a message she needed to send NFL fans in the wake of the truck attack that claimed 15 people and injured 30 others on New Year’s Day.
Kirkpatrick told Fox News contributor Ted Williams during “Fox & Friends” on Thursday that football fans should still plan on coming to the Super Bowl next month.
“They should plan on coming,” Kirkpatrick said.
“Like the Sugar Bowl, today will be held this afternoon. We here in New Orleans have proven time in and time out that we can provide safe environments.”
In the wake of a New Year’s attack on Bourbon Street that resulted in at least 15 deaths, the scheduled Sugar Bowl matchup for Wednesday night had to be postponed from Wednesday evening to Thursday afternoon.
Kirkpatrick made it clear that the Sugar Bowl will prove New Orleans can safely host a massive event despite the terror that was unleashed on the city.

New Orleans Will Ensure That The Superdome Is The Safest Place In The Entire Country Now Until After The Super Bowl
Thursday’s Sugar Bowl comes just a day after a truck attack left 15 people dead in the French Quarter.
Many fans have reservations about whether things will be safe following the terror attack.
With so many law enforcement on high alert, the Superdome will be littered with cops inside and outside.
This will likely be a reoccurring theme until the Super Bowl is played on Feb. 9.
This year’s Super Bowl will be the 11th time the game will be held in New Orleans.
