When we woke up Thursday morning, it seemed like the New Orleans Saints were the clear frontrunners for Deshaun Watson. Fast forward 24 hours later, and it looks like the tides are shifting and a new favorite has taken the lead in the race for the Houston Texans quarterback.
If you’ve been following all the Watson talk on social media as of late, you may have noticed a clear shift in mentions from the Saints to the Falcons. Previously, it seemed like the Saints had the upper hand thanks to their superior roster and their ability to offer Watson the chance to win now.
But over the last 24 hours, something has clearly changed. Maybe it has something to do with Atlanta bringing out the “who’s who” of their city to lure Watson to play in his home state.
Whatever the case may be, there’s a growing belief that Watson will now choose the Falcons as his next team, rather than their division rival Saints.
Some on Twitter have even been reporting the news like it’s a foregone conclusion at this point.

How reliable are these sources? Tough to say, but the fact that the Falcons were able to postpone Matt Ryan’s roster bonus is a clear indication that the Falcons (and their franchise quarterback) do strongly believe that Watson is within their grasp.
Now all they need is a stamp of approval to make this thing official. We’ll wait and see if that happens today — although we could be waiting into the weekend, based on previous reports.
