The Los Angeles Chargers signed JC Jackson to a five-year, $82.5 million deal in March of 2022, but traded him to the Patriots four games into the 2023 season. They traded Jackson and a 2025 seventh-round pick for a 2025 sixth-round pick from the Patriots. Los Angeles paid Jackson $38.5 million for seven games over two seasons.
In December, the Patriots placed Jackson on the reserve/non-football illness list that ended his season.
Now he might be on his way out of town.
A new rumor floating on the internet states that the Patriots might cut the cornerback this offseason and save themselves $14 million in cap space while costing them nothing in dead cap.
Jackson was said to be dealing with “mental health issues” which caused him to miss the Patriots’ Week 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 28-year-old spent from 2018-21 with the Pats — a four-year stint which included a Super Bowl championship (LIII) and earning nods as a both Pro Bowler and an All-Pro. Since his return, he logged 25 tackles and six passes-defensed.
