The New England Patriots were 17.5-point home favorites over the New York Jets when the Westgate Superbook released its first NFL Week 3 odds Sunday night. That was ridiculously huge, but would soon change.
In less than 48 hours, the betting line has moved up to almost a touchdown.
The Patriots are now 22.5-point favorites over the Jets at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas:
The current 22.5 point spread in the Patriots vs. Jets game is the second largest in history. For reference, the Jets have scored 23 points in total through their first two games.
In Week 5 of the 1987 season, Joe Montana’s 49ers were favored by 23 points over the Falcons.

This really shouldn’t come as a shock as the Jets have lost starting quarterback Sam Darnold to mononucleosis and backup Trevor Seimian to an ankle injury. The team struggled all night long against the Cleveland Browns on Monday night and could only muster 3 points for the game.
The Patriots, however, has outscored opponents 76-3 in the first two weeks of the young season.
This game could get really ugly by halftime.
