For the past few months, the Arizona Cardinals basically showed how terrible their front office were as the worst kept secret of being interested in Kyler Murray dominated headlines, despite many inside the organization trying to fan the flames and put their confidence behind Josh Rosen.
Last Thursday, the Cardinals did exactly what people thought they would by selecting the former Oklahoma Sooners QB with the #1 overall draft pick in the 2019 Draft.
That was all well and fine, but the front office completely botched anything to do with Josh Rosen when they waited just minutes before the 2019 draft to start fielding trade calls, diminishing his value in the process, according to a story released by Sports Illustrated’s Robert Klemko.
Not only that, the Cards didn’t make their intentions on taking Murray clear to Rosen until minutes before commissioner Roger Goodell walked to the podium and made the announcement.
Kliff Kingsbury was reportedly also giving Rosen a heavy dose of what’s to come with his playbook just days before the draft that surely put in his mind that the team might be going another route, only to do the exact opposite.
When the team didn’t get the 1st-round pick they had hoped for from another team, GM Steve Keim had to wait until day two to finally get the Miami Dolphins to get on board and send Rosen to South Beach.
